My creative energy is in full force over the next couple of weeks as I create and prepare for the upcoming 3rd Annual LFCC Community Street Fair! Here’s a sneak peek on some pieces I’ve been working on…. Some types of stones I’ve used here are tourmaline, amethyst, and crystal all on gold-filled chain and wire.

A very special birthday gift …
Since early times, aquamarine has been believed to endow the wearer with foresight, courage, and happiness. It is said to increase intelligence and make one youthful. As a healing stone, it is said to be effective as a treatment for anxiety and in the Middle Ages it was thought that aquamarine would reduce the effect of poisons.
A legend says that sailors wore aquamarine gemstones to keep them safe and prevent seasickness.

Approximately 5 years ago, I was an MSW (Masters in Social Work) intern at the my current non-profit agency. My field instructor (now supervisor) is someone I look up to in terms of my growth towards becoming a seasoned social worker. She had asked me to create a jewelry set for her mother this year. I was excited to work on another project and love when there is a meaning Her mother’s ears are not pierced so I had to create a pair of clip ons. I chose aquamarine stones for its serene and calming quality. The clips on the earrings silver plated rhodium and it brings out the sparkle of the stones.
My supervisor told me that she loved the set and now wears it almost everyday! I’m hoping to get a photo of her wearing the set in the near future.
